Turner R. Mebane, Jr. retired in July 2019 after a distinguished career as a Sr. United States Probation Officer with over 27 years of experience working in criminal justice and the federal judiciary.
Recognizing there are very few sentencing mitigation consultants within the Washington, DC metropolitan area, Turner contemplated how his knowledge, training, and expertise could be utilized further to help criminal defense attorneys in the legal defense of their clients in federal court. From his desire to help others and to address this apparent need, XUSPO Sentencing Consultants was formed in November 2019.
Turner truly has a passion and commitment in helping others. Since graduating from college, he has tirelessly been involved in mentoring, volunteerism, and service to others through: the Exodus for Youth, Inc., the Beltsville Boys & Girls Club (past president), Kwanzaa Kitchen, the U.N.C.L.E. Mentoring Program, a softball coach, a cheer dad, a Girl Scout cookie dad, a member of the MJBC Community Outreach Ministry, a supporter of the College Orientation Workshop (C.O.W.), and several others.
He and his wife, Demetrice, reside in Maryland and are the proud parents of a daughter, Kennedy. Turner is a native of North Carolina (Bertie County) and a 1991 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). Also, Turner is a trustee at Mt. Jezreel Baptist Church and a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
